Written 2015 living with Ada & Adelaide in our West Hobart home. Inspired by climbing out of bed into the garden, in middle of the night, looking up at the stars and reminded of how small we are but how immense our universe is.
lyrics
I look up at the stars
In the dead of night
With a half moon shining bright
I realised there's so much potential
We hold in our lives
All these suns I see are part of our one swirling galaxy
And the spaces, the places in-between are too far for my lenses to perceive
How far does it go, are there edges and boundaries we may never know
Billions of planets are spinning and it gets me thinking and singing
Somehow knowing I'm nothing brings an indescribable something
Somehow knowing I'm nothing brings an indefinable something
I've been like an ant on the ground
So busy with my head down
Marching in lines so narrow and defined
But coming out of the burrow I see
Something far bigger than you or me
All these suns I see are part of our one swirling galaxy
And the spaces, the places in-between are too far for my lenses to perceive
How far does it go, are there edges and boundaries we may never know
Billions of planets are spinning and it gets me thinking and singing
Somehow knowing I'm nothing brings an indescribable something
Somehow knowing I'm nothing brings an indefinable something
